#47 | Standing Up For Upland Birds with Ryan Busse of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers – Project Upland Podcast

Ryan Busse his bird dogs and a sharp-tailed grouse

I’m joined by Ryan Busse, upland hunting fanatic and board member of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers. Ryan and I talk about his upland hunting story, the work that he does for BHA and much more.

During our conversation Ryan and I start with a bit of a season recap and a hunting report. We share some upland bird hunting stories as well as the usual bird dogs, shotguns and upland birds chatter. We also discuss how Ryan got started upland hunting and his love for fine double guns and good bird dogs.  Finally, we talk about public land hunting and the work that BHA does to ensure the future of our favorite endeavors.

BHA Mission: Backcountry Hunters & Anglers seeks to ensure North America’s outdoor heritage of hunting and fishing in a natural setting through education and work on behalf of wild public lands and waters.

  • Nick, after listening to a number of shows I wonder why interviews and/or videos haven’t been done on pointing/flushing field trials? In the NE/PA area grouse trials and those dogs, horse-back handled trials and then flushing trials. Shoot to retrieve and NAVDA are others but the grouse and horse-back seem more appropriate. Just a thought for the spring and next fall.
