The decorated competition shooter sits down to talk what it takes to go pro, target setting, and more
Join me this week as we sit down with Grace Callahan, professional woman’s sporting clays shooter and coach.
Grace has been shooting clays from the early age of 10 and, with the support of her family and some friendly folks along the way, has risen to become one of the top clay shooters in the country. Grace currently shoots for Caesar Guerini and Syren. She has made a name for herself on the NSCA circuit, frequently ranking in the open divisions.
We discuss the details of what it takes to go pro, target setting, clays shooting games, and more on this episode of The Gun Room.
Grace’s background, in her words
At the age of 10 years old, my fascination for firearms began. While hunting upland game birds with my father, I ignited a passion that evolved into something I could have never imagined. Shortly after, I discovered the wonders of sporting clays and there was no turning back.
The Scholastic Clay Target Program was how my sporting clays career began in middle school. Staying with the same team until graduating high school, I maintained Varsity status and was even awarded 1st Place Lady all 4 years I attended the SCTP Nationals.
I continue my training today with Joe Scull at Cedar Creek Sporting Clays in Millville, N.J. I started with Mr. Scull while attending Rowan University, which I have since graduated with a Bachelor in Science in Business Administration with a Specialization in Logistical Systems and Supply Chain with a Minor in Marketing. While away at college I garnered many individual National awards, including achieving Pro Level status on the PSCA Tour in 2016. Over my years on the NSCA circuit I have accumulated a strong team of sponsors to back me — These include Caesar Guerini USA, Syren USA, Gamebore USA, White Flyer Targets, Greenwood Custom Stocks, Cedar Creek Sporting Clays, PMS Firearms, Barrel Mitt, and Sky Ranch Texas Longhorns.
