#93 | Ruffed Grouse, Timberdoodles and Timber Markets with Ruffed Grouse Society – Project Upland Podcast
Nick Larson is the host and creator of the Project…
Talking ruffed grouse, timberdoodles and timber markets with the Ruffed Grouse Society.
During a recent trip to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin for a Wildlife Society meeting we caught up with some friends from the Ruffed Grouse Society and American Woodcock Society (RGS/AWS) after an all day symposium focused on ruffed grouse.
So the idea is working forests and embracing timber markets and conservation easements so it makes it viable for land owners to keep that land in forests.
Ben Jones – President and CEO, Ruffed Grouse Society
Along with RGS/AWS member and timber industry analyst, Forrest Gibeault of Steigerwaldt Land Services, we were joined by RGS/AWS Director of Conservation Policy, Brent Rudolph and RGS/AWS President and CEO, Ben Jones.
Our conversation focused on the makeup and distribution of healthy forests and diverse forested landscapes that contribute to ruffed grouse and woodcock habitat. Eventually we turned to the market forces and the conservation policy issues that drives management and change on the forested landscapes in the U.S along with how RGS/AWS works with both public and private landowners to improve wildlife habitat and forest health.
Tune in to this episode of the Project Upland Podcast to learn more about a conservation leader in forest health and wildlife habitat with RGS/AWS.
