Exploring New Jersey upland hunting and Griffin & Howe on the Project Upland Podcast.
Joel Penkala was raised on New Jersey upland hunting. While perhaps not the first state that comes to mind when you think of a multi-species upland bird hunt, Joel draws on his past and that of his father to tell the story and subsequent downfall of New Jersey upland hunting on this episode of the Project Upland Podcast.
Currently Joel works as marketing manager for Griffin and Howe, the Andover New Jersey based company that caters to shooting and outdoor sports enthusiasts.
While New Jersey upland hunting certainly looks different for Joel today than it did during his childhood, his passion for the pursuit has only deepened. Featured in the Project Upland film, Legacy, Joel portrays a penchant for the history and lore of upland hunting combined with a desire to conserve the resource and ensure the future of upland bird hunting.
Maybe what you truly need to make a bird hunter is a dog, a gun, a bird to chase and someone to show you the way.Joel Penkala

“For Joel Penkala, Marketing Manager of Griffin and Howe, the idea of a legacy shotgun has personally come alive through the pages of grouse hunting classics. At its core, it is simply the shotgun that is truly worthy of being passed down from one generation to the next, a proven and treasured implement that will continue to not only meet but will exceed the demands of upland covers across time and space.”
*Joel Penkala is now the host of the Gun Room Podcast
