On this week’s episode of the Project Upland Podcast, Jack Stephan joins the show to talk about upland hunting adventures, favorite dogs, vintage double guns as well as custom gun work and fitting.
Jack is a friend of mine that shares a passion for hunting ruffed grouse and woodcock in the northwoods of the Great Lakes states. He also loves bird dogs, especially German Shorthaired Pointers!
Aside from simply sharing upland hunting stories, the reason we had Jack join us for this episode was to set the stage for an upcoming episode with a gunsmith that is currently working on one of his guns. Jack shares the story of how he acquired the gun and why it will ultimately earn a special place in his gun safe.
We also talk about Jack’s upland hunting beginnings and adventures over the years which include ruffed grouse and woodcock in the Great Lakes states, Chukar in Idaho, Quail in California and more. We finally wrap up the episode with a little conversation about custom gunsmithing and gun fitting.
